Last Friday my parents had to put down their Golden Retriever. This was my first experience with having to put down a pet (holy cow it's hard). Their golden and my golden were litter mates and Sunday they will be 13, so while we know they are old we were not really expecting it.

The problem now is that their 5 year old Bernese mountain dog is sad! I have taken my dog over and she was thrilled, but she is sad when he leaves.

My parents aren't ready for another dog. My mom thinks that me bringing Tucker over my not be a great idea because she will get attached to him and well... he is 13. She also thinks Lucy may be more sad when I take Tucker home. I struggle with the idea that any happiness, however short lived is a good thing.

So I am looking for insight from anyone who has dealt with this sort of thing. Are puppy playdates good? Maybe too soon?  How do you help a dog with a broken heart?

I think it's a great idea to get the dog together with other dogs, especially if they're not ready for another dog yet. But it's a good indicator that they're going to need to think in that direction eventually. Some dogs want to be only dogs, but the ones who crave companionship usually need a playmate unless they spend hours a day with other dogs.

I forgot to add the most important part! I am so sorry for their loss! It is devastating to lose a much loved pet, especially when the owners have to make that decision themselves.

I would love to visit the Titanic museum  in Pigeon Forge. I have been to the museum in Branson.  It was very cool.  My husband and I spent 3 hours there.  We could have stayed longer but it was the last day of our trip and we had to head home.  I would love to see the museum in Pigeon Forge to see the similarities and also the differences.  What artifacts they have that weren't in Branson.  I can't belive it has been 100 years since that terrible night.  I know it was a tragic thing.  But I…
