Generic Birth Control Pills?
Does anyone take a generic form of an oral contraceptive? I worked in the pharmaceutical industry for 13 years and I know generics have to pass the same government testing as national brands do, and I generally don't mind to request a generic at the pharmacy but.....
My mail order pharmacy was having supply issues with my brand and offered the generic. My OB/GYN nurse who called me back said she takes the generic and it's effective...I'm just NERVOUS!
The very last thing I want at this point in my life is a baby.I'm 45 years old, finally financially stable and I have a 9 year old!

I took them for a while. They did their job as in I didn't get pregnant. BUT, the side effects were most unpleasant. Mine were through mail order too and I had to get a 3 month supply. As soon as those 3 months were up I switched back to name brand. You will probably be fine but if you have the chance to get the name brand, do it. The words generic and birth control don't belong in the same sentence, in my opinion. I will use generics in just about everything else but generic BC is no go for me.

I had the same experience as MommaJ but that was many years ago. I had to use a generic and it was the worst couple months from the side effects. I'm not sure what was different but my body didn't agree with them at all. I didn't get pregnant though :-)
Can you get a single pack to hold you over from local pharmacy and use the mail order for the next three months when they have a better supply?
